That is a genuinely good arrangement for Harris. It puts a vehicle where the ferry lands without asking you to travel to Stornoway first, but it only works if you know what to expect, which is why we say it here rather than in the small print.

Before you travel to Harris

Read your confirmation before you set off, not on the pier. It carries the collection point, the key arrangement and the return instructions, and the mobile signal at the port is not something to rely on.

Collecting at Tarbert and returning at Stornoway (or the reverse) is one of the more useful one-way routes we run, because it saves driving the length of Lewis and Harris twice.
