Who we are
Car Hire Hebrides is a trading name of Adventra Ltd, which is the data controller for this website. Our company number and registered office are published at the foot of every page.
If you have a question about your data, or you want to exercise any of the rights below, email book@adventra.co.uk and say what you are asking for.
What this policy covers
This policy covers this website, carhire-hebrides.co.uk: the enquiries you send through it, and the cookies it uses.
It does not cover the booking itself. Bookings are made in a system operated by ProHire on its own website, under ProHire's own privacy policy, and what you enter there does not pass through this site. What happens when you collect a vehicle is covered by the rental agreement you sign.
When you send an enquiry
The enquiry form asks for your name, email address, phone number, the route and dates you are asking about, and anything you write in the message box.
That message is emailed to our booking inbox using Resend, an email delivery service. Your email address is set as the reply-to address so we can answer you. The enquiry is not saved to any database on this website.
We use it to answer your enquiry and for nothing else. We do not send marketing emails and we do not add you to any mailing list.
Our lawful basis is that you have asked us to take steps towards a possible booking. We keep enquiry emails for 12 months, and then delete them.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets one cookie of its own, which records the cookie choice you made so you are not asked on every page. It holds your answer, when you gave it and a version number, and nothing that identifies you.
Analytics cookies are only ever set if you accept them. No analytics is running on this site at present. If we switch it on, the choice you have made continues to govern it, and you can change that choice at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer.
Who else is involved
We use a small number of service providers to run this website:
- Vercel hosts the site and receives the ordinary web-server records every website receives.
- Resend delivers the enquiry email to our inbox.
- Supabase holds the vehicle catalogue and the staff sign-in for the tool we use to edit it. No customer data is stored there.
- ProHire operates the booking system, on its own website and under its own policy.
- Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies, and only once analytics is switched on.
How long we keep things
- Enquiry emails: 12 months.
- Your cookie choice: 6 months, in your own browser.
- Analytics data, if analytics is ever switched on: held by Google under that account's retention setting.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and to have it deleted. You can also ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our using it, or receive it in a portable form.
Email book@adventra.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
Adventra Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk, or by phoning 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
What this site does with your data today
A description of what the website does, checked against its own code rather than written from memory. The policy above is what governs it: this table is the detail behind it, for anyone who wants to see exactly where each piece of information goes.
- Booking and payment details are entered on ProHire's system, not on this website. This site never receives them.
- Enquiries are emailed to us and are not saved to any database on this site.
