What a cookie is doing here
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This site uses as few as it can: one of its own, and analytics cookies only if you choose to accept them.
The table below lists every cookie this site sets, what each is for and how long it lasts. It is checked against the code that sets them rather than written from memory.
Your choice
On your first visit you are asked whether to accept analytics. Accepting and declining are equally easy, and declining is a single click.
If you decline, the analytics script is never requested at all. Nothing is loaded and then ignored.
You can change your mind at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer of every page.
Analytics is not currently switched on
No analytics is running on this site at present, so no analytics cookie is set whichever choice you make. Your choice is still recorded, and it governs analytics if we switch it on later.
The booking form
The booking form on this site is a window into a system operated by ProHire on its own website, and the booking journey continues there. ProHire runs its own analytics inside that form, and those requests are made as soon as the form loads, before and regardless of the choice you make here.
We cannot read, block or consent on behalf of those, because the form is on another website. The choice you make here governs this site's own analytics.

The booking form embedded on this site, and the booking journey it leads to, are operated by ProHire on its own domain. ProHire runs its own analytics inside that form, and those requests are made as soon as the form loads: before, and regardless of, the choice made here. Car Hire Hebrides cannot read, block or consent on behalf of them: the form is on another domain, and the choice above governs only this site's own analytics.
Observed on 2 August 2026: 10 analytics requests from inside the booking form on a first visit, to UA-129300877-1 and G-DW5Z2K6TW1. Stated because it was measured, not because it is expected.
What this site deliberately does not use
- Microsoft Clarity. Excluded by SPEC.md § 11. Session recording over a booking form is a different privacy question from aggregate analytics, and it has not been asked.
- Advertising and remarketing. Google's advertising features and ad-personalisation signals are switched off in the GA4 configuration. The site does not remarket.
- Marketing or personalisation categories. Offering a toggle for something that does not exist implies the site does more with a visitor than it does.
